Bottled water distributed to housing-estate residents complaining of ongoing supply fault

Residents of The Willows housing estate in Dunshaughlin, County Meath, have reported persistent water supply problems that left many without running water for more than three days over the weekend. Uisce Éireann, the national water utility, responded by distributing bottled water to affected households on Saturday as pressure issues escalated.

The latest disruption began on Thursday evening when water pressure dropped significantly, leaving residents without reliable access to water through Friday and into Saturday. Lola Denuga, a homeowner in the estate, described the situation as unacceptable, particularly given her household includes a young child. “We are regularly left without access to water for extended periods, often for several days at a time, without any prior notice or clear information about when the issue will be resolved,” she said.

Multiple residents, including those with children and elderly family members, reported similar frustrations. One anonymous resident stated that after six months of intermittent disruptions, they feel their concerns are being ignored. “We feel as though our complaints are treated as a mockery rather than a serious public service issue,” they said. Another resident highlighted the severe impact on daily life, noting difficulties with washing, cooking, and sanitation due to unreliable water supply.

Uisce Éireann acknowledged the issue in a statement, saying its operations team became aware of the pressure problem affecting a small number of customers in The Willows on Saturday morning. The utility confirmed that while there had been no complete loss of water supply, pressure levels were insufficient for normal use. It assured customers that the issue was being treated as a priority and investigations were ongoing.

The utility arranged an alternative water supply for affected residents and provided bottled water to vulnerable households. Uisce Éireann also urged customers experiencing low pressure or other supply difficulties to contact its customer care team, emphasizing the importance of logging issues to receive direct updates.
