Commercial LPG prices hiked by ₹10 per cylinder

Reversing a two-month downward trend, Indian oil marketing companies increased the prices of commercial liquefied petroleum gas cylinders by approximately 10 rupees per unit across the country on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. While the price hike directly impacts commercial users and retail businesses, the cost of domestic LPG cylinders used in households remains unchanged. Alongside the commercial gas adjustment, the price of aviation turbine fuel for domestic airlines was also increased.
The latest revision raises the cost of a 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinder in New Delhi to 2,747.50 rupees, up from its previous pricing. Rates varied across major Indian metropolitan cities according to local tax structures. In Mumbai, the 19-kilogram cylinder price increased by 9.50 rupees, bringing the total cost to 2,701 rupees per cylinder. Kolkata recorded the highest increase among the major metros, with prices rising by 11.50 rupees to 2,884 rupees per cylinder. In Chennai, commercial gas prices rose by 10.50 rupees, bringing the cost to 2,916.50 rupees per cylinder.
Prices for the 5-kilogram free trade LPG cylinders, which primarily cater to migrant populations and small business operators, also saw a modest rise of approximately 2 rupees per cylinder. Following the 0.26 percent increase, the 5-kilogram cylinder now costs 764 rupees in New Delhi. Sales of free trade cylinders have increased recently because new connections for bottled hydrocarbon gas have been put on hold due to fuel supply uncertainties originating from the re-escalation of the geopolitical conflict in West Asia.
In addition to LPG adjustments, the price of aviation turbine fuel was increased by 6.28 rupees per liter for domestic air carriers. The hike brings the retail price of aviation turbine fuel to 121.28 rupees per liter, putting additional cost pressures on the domestic aviation sector.
The price increase follows two consecutive tranches of price cuts during which commercial LPG rates had declined by a cumulative total of about 380 rupees per cylinder. That period of relief came after a prolonged rally in commercial fuel costs, during which prices spiraled upward by approximately 1,345 rupees per cylinder across four tranches during the peak of the West Asia crisis.
Commercial gas price revisions affect restaurants, hotels, and industrial consumers, while residential consumers remain unaffected by the current rate hike. Fuel industry analysts continue to monitor international energy markets and supply lines linked to West Asia to assess future pricing trends for both commercial LPG and aviation turbine fuel in India.
