Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden and her dance partner Carlos Gu have won the latest series of Channel 4's Celebrity Hunted, claiming a joint victory alongside actor Brian Conley and his daughter, comedian Lucy Conley.

The finale marked the first time in the history of the reality show that two separate pairs managed to remain on the run without being caught by the hunters. Both couples successfully evaded capture to board an extraction plane on a beach in north Wales, completing the challenge in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.

Following the victory, Dowden said the accomplishment helped rebuild her self-belief after undergoing extensive treatment for breast cancer. She stated that cancer took a lot away from her in the last two years, but she truly feels she has regained her confidence, giving her the belief that she can go on to achieve anything.

The 36-year-old Welsh dancer was diagnosed with grade three breast cancer in May 2023 at age 32, after discovering a lump the day before her honeymoon. Her treatment included a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and fertility treatment, which placed her into an early menopause. Dowden, who also lives with Crohn's disease, shared her experience in a BBC documentary before returning to the ballroom floor on Strictly Come Dancing in 2025.

Gu said the motivation to support cancer patients kept the pair focused throughout the two-week pursuit, noting they knew they were doing it for everyone going through cancer who might be watching at home. He added that few of their fellow professional dancers expected them to evade capture.

The show provided a reunion for Dowden and Brian Conley, who were paired together on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017. Conley admitted he initially expected to survive only a few days, believing the pursuers would easily catch them. Lucy Conley described the final escape as pure joy and shock, recalling how her father had doubted his physical ability to reach the extraction point through the sand dunes.

Throughout the series, the two pairs had to evade an elite team of investigators comprised of police and military personnel. The hunters used advanced cyber forensic technology, CCTV networks, tracking dogs, helicopters, drones, and media campaigns to trace the fugitives across the country.
