Gibbs-White shines - player ratings for Liverpool v Nottm Forest

Liverpool and Nottingham Forest played to a 2-2 draw at Anfield on Saturday in manager Andoni Iraola’s first home Premier League match in charge of the Reds.
The match saw both sides share the spoils, with Forest twice coming from behind to secure a point. Morgan Gibbs-White and Dan Ndoye scored for Forest, while Victor Munoz and Alexander Isak replied for Liverpool. Gibbs-White, who has been in fine form this season, scored a second-half penalty to restore Forest’s lead before Munoz and Isak equalized in a frantic final 20 minutes.
Alisson Becker made a crucial save to deny Igor Jesus just before half-time, keeping Liverpool in the game. However, he was beaten by Ndoye’s first-half strike and was at fault for Gibbs-White’s penalty, which he palmed into the net after a foul by Virgil van Dijk. Liverpool’s defensive frailties were exposed early, with Ndoye’s composed finish and Gibbs-White’s clinical finish putting Forest in control.
Liverpool struggled to break down Forest’s disciplined defense, with Florian Wirtz and Cody Gakpo coming closest to scoring. Wirtz had a goal disallowed for offside and forced a fine save from Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels, while Gakpo played a key role in Liverpool’s equalizing goal, providing the cross for Isak’s header.
Forest’s Ola Aina and Neco Williams were lively on the flanks, with Williams winning the penalty that gave Forest their second lead. James McAtee, deputizing for the injured Elliot Anderson, impressed with his energy and delivery, while Xaver Schlager slotted into midfield seamlessly following his summer move from RB Leipzig.
Liverpool’s subs, including Kostas Tsimikas and Dominik Szoboszlai, had limited impact, while Forest’s late changes did little to change the game’s outcome. The draw leaves Liverpool in the top four but highlights defensive concerns ahead of their upcoming fixtures.
