Police form three teams to trace gang that stabbed AIMIM leader to death in Vattepally

Hyderabad Police have launched a manhunt for a gang of six suspects accused of fatally stabbing Mahboob Ali, a 60-year-old All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader in Vattepally, Falaknuma on the night of August 30, 2026.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. near Almas Hotel. According to police accounts, the group of unidentified men ambushed Mahboob Ali and attacked him with knives. Suffering multiple serious injuries, he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died during treatment.
Falaknuma police arrived at the scene shortly after receiving information about the assault and initiated an investigation. The Hyderabad Police’s Rajendranagar division has since formed three special teams to track down and arrest the suspects. At this stage, authorities have not disclosed a clear motive for the killing.
Local residents and AIMIM officials have expressed shock and concern over the incident. AIMIM, a prominent political party with significant presence in Hyderabad, has called for swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice. Police sources indicate that CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to identify the attackers.
The murder has heightened security concerns in Falaknuma and surrounding areas. Police have increased patrolling in the neighborhood while continuing their probe into the circumstances surrounding Mahboob Ali’s death. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward and assist the investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing, with police appealing to the public for any leads that could help trace the suspects.
