A male teenager remains in critical condition at Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital following an electric scooter crash on Battery Road in Longford on Friday evening. Emergency services responded to the single-vehicle incident shortly after 10:40 p.m., according to Garda sources. A second teenager, a female passenger, was taken to Mullingar Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Gardaí have appealed for public assistance in gathering evidence, noting that the road remained closed on Saturday for forensic examination.

Longford-based Gardaí confirmed the injured male teenager was initially brought to Mullingar Regional Hospital before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital for advanced trauma care. Medical officials have not released further details about his condition. The female passenger, believed to be under 18, is receiving treatment and is expected to make a full recovery. Both individuals were transported by ambulance following the crash.

Gardaí said the collision involved only the e-scooter and no other vehicles. The road was closed to facilitate a technical examination and local diversions were implemented for motorists. Investigators are particularly interested in footage from road users or nearby properties between 10:15 p.m. and 10:45 p.m., when the crash occurred.

Superintendent John Callan of Longford Garda Division urged anyone with dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage to contact authorities. He emphasized that such evidence could be crucial in determining the cause of the collision.
