Corrections & Retractions — How LeadNews24 Handles Factual Errors

Our Commitment to Accuracy

LeadNews24 publishes journalism with the intent that every factual claim be verifiable and correct. We apply rigorous editorial standards before publication. Despite this, errors occur. When they do, our obligation is clear: acknowledge them, correct them, and explain what happened.

We do not quietly edit published articles. We do not delete corrections after the fact. We do not issue apologies without specifics. Every correction is documented, dated, and visible to readers.

Types of Corrections

Minor Corrections. Typographical errors, misspellings of proper nouns, incorrect dates, or numerical errors that do not change the substance of a story are corrected in the article text and noted at the bottom of the piece with a timestamp.

Substantive Corrections. Where a factual claim was incorrect and affects the meaning or interpretation of the reporting, a correction notice is appended at the top of the article. The original claim, the correct information, and the date of correction are all included. The correction is also noted in our public corrections log.

Partial Retractions. Where a significant portion of a published piece is found to be based on inaccurate, fabricated, or misrepresented source material, we retract the affected portion, clearly mark it within the article, and explain the basis for the partial retraction.

Full Retractions. Where an entire article is found to be substantially incorrect or based on fraudulent source material, a full retraction is issued. The article is removed from public access and replaced with a retraction notice that explains why the content was withdrawn. We do not make original content disappear without explanation.

How Errors Are Reported

Readers, sources, and subjects of our reporting may notify us of factual errors at [email protected]. All notifications are reviewed by our editorial team. We ask that you include the URL of the article, the specific claim you are disputing, and any supporting evidence for your position.

We do not accept corrections from subjects of investigation as a mechanism to suppress accurate reporting. Correction requests submitted with the intent to interfere with journalism rather than address genuine factual errors are identified and treated accordingly.

Timelines

Minor corrections: applied within 24 hours of verification. Substantive corrections: within 48–72 hours, following editorial review. Retractions: issued after full editorial assessment, which may take longer where legal or verification factors are involved. We do not rush retractions — accuracy demands the same rigour as the original publication.

Corrections Log

LeadNews24 maintains a public corrections log that records all substantive corrections and retractions issued. This log is accessible to readers and represents our commitment to a transparent editorial record.

Journalism that cannot acknowledge its own errors is not journalism that can be trusted. This policy is applied without exception.
